Did you buy a QL label printer to speed up the task of printing a single address label? Did you find that the P-Touch editor software is just too powerful for that simple task? The interface of PrintTheLabel has been kept to a minimum, just enough to do the job. There is no complex setup, extensive options or preferences. It is designed to just do one thing, quickly and efficiently: Print The Label you want from your Brother QL Label Printer.

Ok, so PrintTheLabel does not have direct links to your Outlook address book, but is that up-to-date anyway? Maybe you never use the address section of your email program, maybe you use something else entirely! With so many email and CMS (contact management system) programs on the market, it would be impossible to build a program that could read all their address databases. No problem, any program can copy text and it is a simple matter to paste any address into PrintThelabel’s destination box. Then format it just the way you want and save it for instant use next time! If you can use Copy and Paste you can fill PrintTheLabel’s own database as you go.

Once you have the address in the database it is even simpler - just choose the address from the dropdown list and print.

Bet you can’t do this with your email or CMS program! Define multiple return addresses and select them on the main dialog. Have different addresses for Work and Home or different members of the family. Just select the one you want from the list.

PrintTheLabel knows what labels are in your printer and only shows you the label templates for that size of label. And by segregating the labels into different folders for each type of label, you can keep the names of the label templates simple. For example each folder can have a label called “Address” for the simplest default layout. Only the one valid for the currently installed labels will be available for selection.

One important use for PrintThelabel is as an aid to those with poor eyesight. If they struggle with writing a check or signing a form, why make addressing the envelope hard as well? With PrintThelabel in Large mode and a pre-prepared address database, printing address labels is a snap for anyone.

PrintTheLabel installs a number of predefined label templates for the most common label types. However this does not mean these are the only label templates you can use! You can create your own templates in the Brother P-touch editor and PrintTheLabel will replace simple text codes in the template with data from the Return or Destination addresses. Full details of how to do this are given in the Help file. Any templates you create will also be shown in the Label list.

PrintTheLabel can run as a normal application or, using the setting in Options, can be transformed into a System Tray icon (also called TaskBar Notifications). These are generally small icons at the bottom-right of your screen and are used for program or functions that you want always to-hand. Just set the System Tray option in Options, close the program and drag it’s shortcut icon to the Startup folder on the Windows Start menu. PrintTheLabel will then be run automatically when your PC starts and will be instantly available all the time.
